About us..

So I suppose I will tell you a little bit about myself and our family so you can decide if this is something worth reading or not..

I am the wife of a Iraqi war veteran.. he spent 10 years in the US Army and deployed to Iraq 3 times we have 4 beautiful children that live with us and he has 2 (my bonus girls) that live in California.  We were married before he joined the Army and yes believe it or not we are still married "after" the Army... Not saying it has ever been easy.. but... It has been worth it...

Mike was injured several times while deployed to Iraq and because at the time that he went 2003 for the first time... If you were breathing  then you were staying and fighting the war.  So that is what he did...    He was medivaced home after he was struck with schrapnel from a rocket mortar and it destroyed his knee.. He had surgery and was sent back to Iraq... He was then clothes lined  by a low lying power line and electrocuted...it knocked him unconsciene and caused a traumatic brain injury (TBI). We didnt know until after another deployment ( he did 3 total) and some time home, just how bad his TBI was and the damage it had caused. We have since learned that not only does he have the physical injuries from the explosion, the TBI but he has severe PTSD also.. And in the process of learning he had PTSD we also learned that I have secondary PTSD and also our children have it also...

Well that is the brief run down of how we got to where we are and I am sure I will go more into detail as time goes on...

The point of this blog is in no way to say how bad off we are or to complain in any way, not saying that it won't happen from time to time because that is reality in any marriage.. but in fact it is the complete opposite... It is to let you know that there is life after the battle field, a couple and family can make it through anything if they put their hearts together and decide that is what they are going to do... YES things are and can be rough... BUT IT can work... There is hope and you are not alone....
